This DVD was a real treat for a lifetime fan of Uriah Heep. I am a big fan, and I always have been of this great band. It is not too hard to figure out if you have read any of my reviews. Up until now, I had never witnessed any archived footage of the David Byron era. That particular lineup I call the classic lineup (e.g. Yes).

Classic Heep Live From The Byron Era is a tribute to late great front man. The footage is dated, so do not expect the pristine high quality video that you have become accustomed in a DVD (like Magic Night). It is definitely a 70’s era film, and at times the jumping back and forth from member to member makes you dizzy! Regardless, it is a nice memory of Byron and his significance to the band.

David Byron was a charismatic and at times campy performer; his voice was a unique tool utilized the best possible way for the music behind him. As much as I enjoy the current lineup of Uriah Heep, this is without any doubt the best and most memorable.

This is a DVD worth having for many reasons, primarily if you can remember when David Byron was with the band and you can appreciate why he was so important to them, and if you did not realize it, you will now.

Rating: 4/5
