Artist News: Fluttr Effect Signs With 10T Records, Releases New CD Marking Time
10T Records is pleased to announce the signing of Boston-based Fluttr Effect to its roster and the release of the group's second official full length CD, Marking Time on October 2, 2006. Marking Time is a rich tapestry, a finely woven album of complex, playful instrumentation and insistent vocals. The songs showcase Fluttr Effect's particular brand of "think-rock" - smart, haunting, unrelenting rock music.
Fluttr Effect's ability to cross genre boundaries without a backward glance allows them to lure fans from a wide variety of musical tastes. The members draw inspiration from a diverse range of sources - everything from Prog Rock to Goth to Metal to Classical to Pop to Trip Hop fuels this unconventional group, whose instrumentation includes electric cello and MIDI marimba in addition to guitar, drums, and vocals.
Fluttr Effect consists of Vessela Stoyanova on MIDI marimba, Valerie Thompson on electric cello and vocals, Kara Trott on lead vocals, Troy Kidwell on guitar and vocals, and Jason Marchionna on drums and percussion.
"We originally formed 10T Records for the purpose of showcasing artists whom we felt were really stretching the envelope. Fluttr Effect embodies that concept in a very real and immediate way. They literally don't sound like a single other band on the current scene", says 10T president Steve Carroll. "One listen to Marking Time was all we needed to know that we wanted to expose this music to as large an audience as possible.
10T Records is happy to also be offering Trithemis Festiva, Fluttr Effect's debut album, for immediate sale in addition to the brand new Marking Time CD. Trithemis Festiva, released in November 2004, has been described as a recording that "breathes and undulates with sensuality... [leaving] room for nuance and personality" (Skope Magazine).
