CD/DVD Releases: Manning Starts Work On Next Album

Posted on Sunday, February 13 @ 12:00:00 UTC by nightowl

Never one to let the grass grow beneath his feet, Guy Manning posted the following to his newsgroup on Feb 8: "Work has now started (in an unhurried and hopefully relaxed way) on the sequel to the Manning 2006 album Anser's Tree.

"If you recall, this album followed the search for the family tree being carried out (in the future) by Dr Jonathan Anser (excavating in Scotland where his family originated) at a time when Global Warming has severely damaged the Planet and most of the Earth is flooded.

"In order to establish correct timelines, events and characters, a full family tree was created to support the album (originally available as a special poster sold along with direct web sales CDs).

"I always said that one day we should go back and get more of the family documented in stories (as there were plenty left over!)...so here we are!

"I will keep you periodically posted with any titbits and facts about the new songs as I too research these new characters and find out more about the Anser family myself!

"There will no doubt be some musical references to the earlier album, too.

"Also, please check out the gig diary on the website for our dates starting March 2011!!"

Those live dates include: March 12 at The Classic Rock Soceity @ The Wesley Centre in Rotherham, UK; special guests are Jump. March 26 at the Progmeister Progfest 2011 at Studio Hartlepool in Hartlepool, Cleveland, UK, along with RetroGenesis/So Gabriel, John Hackett & Nick Magnus, The Dec Burke Band, Glacier, M.O.G., and Manir Donaghue. May 1 at the Robin 2 in Bilston, UK. And another date in June, not yet specified, as a make up date to the cancelled Dec 3 show; to be held at The Venue in Sheffield, UK; guests include Molly Bloom and Godsticks.

On September 10, Akoustik Manning takes the stage at The Grove in Leeds, UK.

[The album title might be Margaret's Children (Anser's Tree II), or that could just be working title. Of course, let's suggest, Looking For All The Ansers... -ed.]
