The 22nd edition of Metalmania - the biggest metal fest in Central-Eastern Europe - will take place on 8th March 2008 in Spodek Hall in Katowice, Poland. Stolen Babies, the US band, will headline the side stage of the Festival!

The festival starts at 9.30 am on the side stage with the performances of two Polish acts: Carrion and Pandemonium. They will be followed by the first international act, Wrust, an extreme metal band from Botswana. The trio plays energetic, extreme metal and has recently released an 8 track album Soulless Machine.

Fans of the thrash and death metal mix will be delighted with the show of the Dutch band Izegrim. The next band on the side stage bill is the Dutch Non-Divine. A great blend of melodic rock and metal plus the group's unique image guarantees lots of fun.

Demonical will take over the stage with their mission to return to the death metal roots. They will surely deliver a sheer dose of darkness and brutality! German metal scene will be represented by a young but very impressive band Drone, winner of the Wacken Metal Battle 2006. Their modern sound constitutes a mix of metal, rock, thrash metal and even elements typical for jazz! They play very fast, heavy and loud. The next band to perform on the side stage will be a treat for the fans of Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus or Death Angel. Mortal Sin grew out of the western suburbs of Sydney (Australia) in the mid 80s and by 1987 had become the country's most important extreme metal act. The band rose to the top of the scene with their Metallica inspired debut Mayhemic Destruction, which won them an international record deal. In 2005 Mortal Sin were inducted into the Hall Of Fame at the Metal for the Brain & Kerrang Australian heavy metal awards.

October File will be another star of the side stage of the festival. This hard core/punk band from UK is often compared with Killing Joke, Big Black and Boy Sets Fire. Their last album Holy Armour From The Jaws Of God, featuring Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke doing guest vocals, received a bunch of enthusiastic reviews around the world including the one from the British Metal Hammer: "A sustained, evangelical tirade against the evils of the world, Holy Armour... combines dark and muscular post-punk menace with the precise violence of extreme metal to create an exhilarating blast of white knuckle noise and righteous indignation. British rock hasn't sounded this furious or this potent in decades."

Evile is the last band to perform before the headliner takes over the side stage. Evile are an original thrash metal outfit from Huddersfield in the UK. In October of 2006 Evile signed to the legendary Earache Records, label home of such Metal legends as Morbid Angel, Napalm Death, Municipal Waste and Carcass. With every member contributing to every aspect of the band, they have a uniqueness and strength that gives them a cutting edge, influenced by bands such as Sepultura, Exodus, Metallica, Annihilator and Slayer to name but a few. These young thrashers have created something that the metal world is crying out for. Despite being un-signed at the time, Evile were hand-picked to headline the second stage of Bloodstock Open Air 06, and also to open the main stage of Manchester's own Damnation Festival. With the debut album Enter The Grave the band is sure to make an impact on the world of thrash metal. In February 2008 Evile supports Megadeth on their Gigantour 2008!!!

The headliner slot of the side stage of the Metalmania Festival 2008 belongs to the US band Stolen Babies. This will surely be the most intriguing band during this year?s edition of the fest. Stolen Babies are an avant-garde metal band with significant influences from dark cabaret. Among the band's many musical influences are groups such as Oingo Boingo, Mr. Bungle and Fishbone. Stolen Babies are best known for their on-stage theatrics and energetic performances, filled with props and Gorey-esque backdrops, all made by the various members. The band's debut full-length album There Be Squabbles Ahead was released early in 2006 through the band's website, but was re-released on October 3rd 2006 following the band's signing with The End Records. It's nearly impossible to talk about Stolen Babies without mentioning their ongoing collaboration with graphic novelist extraordinaire Crab Scrambly. His artwork has graced their early releases, website and merch. Stolen Babies supported Lacuna Coil on Revolver?s The Hottest Chicks in Metal Tour 2007 featuring female-fronted metal bands. In February the band will support Dillinger Escape Plan? And now you can see the phenomenon of the band yourself, during the Metalmania Festival 2008!
