Renowned photographer, Shahar Azran's original photo of U2 during the re-opening of the Superdome in New Orleans in 2006, is presented by Aaron Neville and The Edge to the CEO of the Hard Rock Caf?, Hamish Dodds at the second annual "Icons of Music" charity auction to benefit Music Rising.

The Icons of Music auction took play May 31, 2008 and The Hard Rock Cafe Times Square in New York. Items in this auction featured property from the members of U2 including The Edge's trademark 1976 Gibson Explorer Guitar, The Edge's "U2" rings worn on the cover of Achtung Baby and in various videos and photo shoots, a stage worn jacket worn by Bono during the 2005 Vertigo Tour and a stage played Gretsch Falcon Guitar.



Additional property from other Music Icons included Slash concert used Gibson guitar for his first public appearance with Velvet Revolver at The Roxy, Jim Morrison handwritten poem, Bob Dylan concert used guitar, Ronnie Wood handwritten lyrics, Kurt Cobain early guitar with photographs, Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit" MTV Music Award, Cliff Burton concert used bass guitar from Metallica, set of four early Beatles suits worn by the band members during their promotion of Hard Day's Night and much more...

About Music Rising: Created by U2's The Edge, producer Bob Ezrin, Gibson Guitar Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz with support from Guitar Center Music Foundation and MusiCares. The campaign's goal is to help rebuild the musical heart and culture of America's Gulf Region by replacing the musical instruments destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Music Rising, administered by The Gibson Foundation, has begun its Phase Two plans aimed at giving instruments to churches and schools in the region.
