Festival News: The Sweden Rock Cruise Stockholm-Turku 2009

Posted on Friday, August 07 @ 04:00:00 UTC by nightowl

Start the countdown towards Sweden Rock Festival 2010 with a bang! On October 8th, the Sweden Rock Cruise set sails again! With hardrock DJ's, tax free shops, bars, restaurants, a gaming room, swimming pool and saunas, the 12-deck, 200 meter long M/S Silja Galaxy is pure heaven for everyone into hard music and partying!

Artists announced so far: Freedom Call, Crashdiet, and Freak Kitchen.

Freedom Call: These power metal icons have been called the happiest metal band in the world, and if you are into melodies, double bass drums and choruses sounding like national anthems this should indeed be your cup of tea. Freedom Call, founded by Gamma Ray drummer Daniel Zimmermann, made major impact in Sweden when supporting Hammerfall just after the turn of the millennium. Several successful albums and shows followed, but it has now been a few years since their last visit. About time for a comeback, then! Freedom Call Myspace site

Crashd?et: The band who revived the Swedish sleaze scene has a new singer and a new album. The identity of the new frontman was kept secret for weeks until it was finally revealed in a recent issue of Sweden Rock Magazine. His name is Simon Cruz, and everyone who has heard him seem to agree that the band is in the best shape they have been in a long, long time. Crashd?et will do their first ever gig with the new line-up on the Sweden Rock Cruise, so if you are into sleaze and Crashd?et you simply cannot miss out on this! Crashdiet MySpace site

Freak Kitchen: The former Sweden Rock Festival house band is finally back on Sweden Rock turf - although at sea this time! This peculiar trio was formed in 1992 and has a reputation for weird time changes, humorous in-between song rants, quick leaps between different musical styles and the phenomenal guitar playing of front man Mattias "IA" Eklund. A new album titled "Land of the Freaks" is scheduled for release this fall. Freak Kitchen MySpace site

Another three bands will be presented shortly!
