CD/DVD Releases: Kinetic Element Finishes Recording Of ''Powered By Light''

Posted on Saturday, August 29 @ 19:45:00 UTC by nightowl

Kinetic Element would like to announce that they have completed recording Powered By Light, a 69:19 minute concept album of progressive and progressive-influenced rock music, with their new lineup that was cemented early this year. The CD is at Discmakers now [with delivery expected to the band Aug 28].

KE is thrilled to have the cover art designed by Martin Kornick ("Man In The Mountain") who has done covers for Keith Emerson, Pinnacle, The Tangent and Ajalon, to name but four.

Guitarist Todd Russell of Richmond has joined Mike Visaggio on keyboards and vocals, Michael Murray on drums and vocals, and bassist Tony D'Amato (who came on board last year for the Prog Day PreShow and has stayed!). The addition of guitar has changed the focus of KE from a keyboard/synth-lead-focused group to a more balanced symphonic prog band where Mike is doing much more orchestration and Todd is taking over a lot of the old synth parts plus contributing many new parts and a solo acoustic classical style guitar piece. One of the new pieces that [appears on the]completed Powered By Light may be heard on www.myspace.com/kineticelement, "See The Children." Songs 2, 3 and 4 on Myspace are older trio versions of songs that will be on the CD but have taken on a new dimension with the addition of Todd. The last three songs are actually taken from Mike's solo CD Starship Universe, which is still available. The band's electronic press kit, as well as new mixes of the old Suite which are part of the new CD, may be viewed and heard at www.sonicbids.com/kineticelement.

People are telling me [Mike V.] they hear the Yes, Floyd, Moodies, Spock's, Kansas, Purple, ELP, Genesis, etc. influences so I guess that puts us somewhere in the middle of all that. We didn't set out to be anyone else though, we're just doing the stuff we think up.

KE recorded this record at Sound of Music Studio in Richmond under the watchful eyes and ears of John Morand, a producer/engineer who has worked with Lamb of God (prog metal) and Souvenir's Young America (Progressive/ambient) among many others.

Mike and Todd plan to be at ProgDay with a vendor table and hope to see many of our friends there. We are taking pre-orders at bigroad3@gmail.com (please write for info) and will have it available on CD Baby. I'm pleased to say we have several pre-orders!

But...no, we don't have a label. Any volunteers? LOL

See you at ProgDay!
