CD/DVD Releases: "Winterfell" Is Coming... Well, Gandalf's Owl's "Winterfell" Is Alread

So... back in July we received a press release from Club Inferno Entertainment regarding a new release from Gandalf's Owl called Winterfell. The Gandalf reference was pretty obvious - The Hobbit, Lord of The Rings, etc. A well-spring from which many a band derived their name, no? But the album title? Game Of Thrones? Mere coincidence or a typo and it's Winter Fell? But still, being a fan of GOT... I clicked on the message....

The album cover - well EP cover - confirms it's not a typo or coincidence, why there's a map that looks a lot like Westeros! Gandalf's Owl is a project put together by Heimdall vocalist Gandolfo Ferro (so, not merely a LotR reference). As the mini-press release notes: "Are you ready to enter the glacial atmospheres, arcane melodies and dimensionless sounds of his mental trips?" Those are apt descriptions for the three tracks of the EP - "The Wall," "Winterfell" and "White Arbour (...The North Remembers)."

Listen for yourself here.

If you like electronic music/sonicscapes like Tangerine Dream, Steve Roach, Robert Rich, etc. (to name a few), then this is up your alley. Yes, it's very cold and stark (no pun intended) not unlike the colder climes of the North, and certainly the even colder climes at The Wall... and beyond the wall. Very nice stuff.
