CD/DVD Releases: Smelt In The 80s, Bronz Finishes Forging Sophomore Release

It was twenty-five years ago today and despite serious New Years Eve hangovers Bronz were in John Henry's rehearsal studios in London working with Max Norman on pre-production for the scheduled recording of their second album Carried By The Storm. Little did they know that it would be a quarter of a century before the music they were creating was to be finally released.....

In 1984 Bronz the band were one of the first British Rock acts of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (N.W.B.H.M.) to hit America in the mid 80s, touring their d?but album Taken By Storm. Fronted at that time by Max Bacon on lead vocals, the band were playing 30,000 seater stadiums and their first album went on to sell well over 200,000 albums worldwide.

The single Send Down An Angel was frequently aired on the then fledgling M.T.V. in America and across Europe, with a video featuring the actress Emma Thompson. It reached a top 10 position in the U.K. rock singles charts and a top 20 in the rock album charts. Just as Bronz were set for stardom with a second major US tour and album lined up, they imploded. The eagerly awaited second album gathered dust in the vaults a forgotten ?gem?. Now 25 years later, Shaun Kirkpatrick and mastering engineer Gordon Young have digitally dusted off the master tapes to reveal a startling fresh, vibrant AOR classic.

The rest of the story:

For a while Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy) helped out on guitar until that position was filled by Michael 'O' Donoghue (ex grand Prix). Max Bacon the singer on Taken By Storm was poached by Steve Howe and Steve Hackett (they went on to form a new super group G.T.R.) and his position was soon filled by a new up and coming rock vocalist Ian Baker who features on the new album Carried By The Storm.

Clive Edwards took charge of the drums (ex Wild Horses/ Pat Travers/ UFO) and bass was covered by Lee Reddings.

Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne's Producer) was brought in to record the band?s second album Carried By The Storm. It was recorded over several months in both the Roundhouse and PowerPlant studio's in London ... but as it was nearing completion the record company went into receivership.
