CD/DVD Releases: Galahad - New EP Due June 30

Posted on Sunday, June 01 @ 19:56:18 UTC by nightowl

Middle of last month, the lads of Galahad (well, just one lad, Stu Nicholson) posted the following: "The Guardian Angel EP will be released on 30th June, the track listing is as follows:

Guardian Angel (Piano version)
Guardian Angel (Hybrid)
Guardian Angel (Euphoria version)
Guardian Angel – Reprise (Euphoria version)
Beyond the Barbed Wire (Piano version)

"However, we will have copies available exclusively at the Celebr8.3 Festival in Islington on Sunday 1 June when we will be playing at 2pm. [Which is now in the past, of course, as it's now, as of this posting, 3-something in the morning Monday 2 June - ed.]

"The Guardian Angel press release [appears below...]. A pre-ordering facility will also be set up on our web site merchandise page in the next few days. [Now available -ed.]

Following on from the release of two critically acclaimed full length albums in 2012 (Battle Scars and Beyond The Realms Of Euphoria) and the recent release of the Seize The Day EP, Galahad are proud to announce their second release of 2014, the Guardian Angel EP.

This release contains a stripped down version of the title track featuring only piano, vocal and strings, which shows a more sensitive side to the band. A "Guardian Angel 'Hybrid' has also been included which contains elements of the original track and parts taken from "Guardian Angel – Reprise" melded together to create a more organic and distinctly different version.

The EP, which also contains the original album versions of "Guardian Angel" and "Guardian Angel – Reprise," also features a piano and vocal version of "Beyond The Barbed Wire," the full original band version of which appears on the Battle Scars album.

The Guardian Angel EP will be available as a download from the band’s website as well from several digital on-line platforms such as I-tunes, CD Baby, Amazon etc. It will also be available, as a limited edition CD EP, directly from the merchandise section of the Galahad website.

As with the previous Seize The Day EP we hope that this release will appeal to existing fans of the band as well as those who are intrigued and interested in the band but have yet to dip their toes in to the murky world of Galahad music.

"'Mein Herz Brennt,'" our Rammstein cover EP, has also now been completed and shows a slightly different side to the band, to say the least! This will be released towards the end of the year and will contain 4 distinctly different versions/mixes of the track.

"As we mentioned before, we will shortly be re-releasing our 2007 studio album [Empires Never Last] in re-mixed and re-mastered form (courtesy of the wonderful Karl Groom at Thin Ice) which hopefully will be an improvement upon the original mix and which will also include two new alternative versions of 'Termination' and 'This Life Could Be My Last' recorded in April this year.

"The album will also be released in digipack format and will include some artwork not used on the original release.

"Release date to be confirmed, keep an eye out on the website and Facebook for details.

"We are making good progress re-arranging a selection of older tracks to be included on a special 30th anniversary release which now has a title, When Worlds Collide, which we thought would be very apt as it'll be a collision of new recordings of old songs! Recording of these tracks will commence later in the year for a release some time in 2015.

"Only a couple [of live shows] lined up at the moment as we are also busy with other projects.

"Sunday 1 June – Celebr8.3 at Islington Assembly (please note show time is early at 2pm)
Saturday 5 July – Christchurch Music Festival, Christchurch Quay, Dorset…(Evening show)

"However, next year we are hoping to organise a few special shows to celebrate our 30th anniversary! Time sure flies when you’re having fun, but where did it all go!!??

"[...] In the mean time we’d like to wish everyone all the best for the rest of 2015."
