Well, no, it's not prog. But one of the things I like about music - whether prog rock or mainstream rock (or even not rock at all) - is a moving guitar solo. Gilmour, Rothery, Clapton, Hendrix... it's not about speed, it's about the right notes speaking in the same way vocals do - or even in a way vocals cannot. Ergo, this item drew my attention -ed.

Jam Track Central (JTC) are proud to announce the launch of Guitar Hero Ballads. Their first original album features eleven brand new, exclusive ballad tracks from a star-studded lineup of their own artists.

"Every guitar hero needs a ballad," said Jan Cyrka, co-founder of JTC, "so we decided to create the first ever JTC album. We spoke to a number of the artists on our roster and asked them to compose their ultimate ballads. The result is a powerful album, full of pure emotion and drive that takes you on a journey through the minds of some of the most talented guitar players and composers I know." You can see a trailer for the new album here.

With brand new tracks by artists such as Guthrie Govan, Andy James, Alex Hutchings and Marco Sfogli, it should be an essential purchase for any fan of guitar instrumentals. This 50 minute masterpiece also features the incredible Jack Thammarat, Al Joseph, Jake Willson, Sergey Golovin, Jakub Zytecki, Feodor Dosumov and Dave Lockwood. These talented musicians draw heavily on their own experiences to compose a collection of epic, beautiful and diverse ballads full of sensitive chord voicings, played with jaw dropping technique. These new and exclusive tracks will have the hairs on the back of your neck standing up with their sheer understated intensity.

In true JTC form, a number of digital download options are available on their site: the full 11-track album, the official backing tracks complete with accurate tab/notation and five bonus play-through videos, or the deluxe edition which includes both. The album is also available as a CD which can be shipped worldwide, and the download is also available in most digital online stores, including iTunes. Every angle is covered, whether you are simply a listener or a guitar player.

A preview of the album is on JTC's YouTube channel and to find out more about JTC go to jamtrackcentral.com where there are over 1000 original artist tracks available to learn with weekly original content updates.
