CD/DVD Releases: Satellite Step ''Into The Night''

Satellite, one of the best progressive rock bands, returns with more beautiful and inspiring music! The new album entitled Into The Night is the final chapter of the trilogy started in 2003 by A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset and followed by Evening Games in 2005. As the band claims, it's their third and best offering.

Satellite was founded in 2000 by Wojtek Szadkowski, who wrote and co-wrote nearly all of Collage's music and lyrics. It was meant to be only Wojtek's solo-project but soon it became a real band? As Wojtek recalls: "...I invited other musicians to play music without any commitments or plans to record an album. In a way, I wanted to go back to the beginnings, to playing music spontaneously, music which could be played without any barriers, to feel this fresh breeze of creativity again. ...It was like a new beginning for me. I wanted to start from the scratch to feel creative again, and to feel that particular uncertainty which one can experience only in the beginning of writing new music for a totally new project. I didn't know how it would end up and this was really very fascinating. From the beginning, it was absolutely my own solo project."

Satellite's debut album entitled A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset was released in March 2003 by Metal Mind Productions. As Wojtek explains: "The album is about understanding and seeing our world in two completely different ways. Some people can feel and see more than others. Maybe all of us could find that more sensitive side of ourselves but, unfortunately, for different reasons, we do not have enough time or we don't want to see anything else than our ordinary life. This is what the album is about. And finally, it is about making a choice, any choice. Because making a choice is like choosing one side of the street or the other one. And once the choice is made, you are walking down the street on one side, but you can always see, watch, and observe the other side."

The cover artwork was designed by Mark Wilkinson, known from his artistic cooperation with Marillion and Fish, among others!! The album was enormously successful, receiving very enthusiastic reviews in medias (Colossus, European Progressive Rock Reviews, but also Metal Observer or Rockezine).

The follow-up album, Evening Games, was released in late February 2005 and reached no 8 on the top 100 best selling records in Poland. The main theme of Evening Games referred to the confrontation of our childhood dreams and reality. As children, we set off to conquer the universe and our imagination knows no limits. As we grow older we become kings of ordinariness, who drown in the sea of suburbs and whose only adventure is switching TV channels? Do we continue our evening games? Later that year, regular rehearsals begun to transform Satellite, as Wojtek's solo studio project, into a real band. Autumn 2005 saw the release of Satellite's first live DVD entitled Evening Dreams.

2007 marks the return of Satellite. In March the band had a privilege to play at the famous Baja Prog Festival in Mexico next to artists like Tony Levin, Rudess/Morgenstein-Projekt, RPWL or Cast. In Autumn they are coming back with the new studio album: Into The Night. Wojtek Szadkowski has once again invited his fellow musicians to create a masterpiece of space, melody and beautiful sounds. Moreover, owing to the involvement of Jarek Michalski (bass), the band's music got onto an even higher level. New material is the final chapter of a story written by Wojtek Szadkowski and Satellite. The album features 7 atmospheric compositions, full of space and beautiful arrangements, creating subtle yet powerful sounds. As the band claims, new songs are even more melodic and stirring. Possibly one of the most important albums of neo-prog.

Into The Night will be released by Metal Mind Productions on the 19th November 2007 in Europe and on the 22nd January 2008 in the USA (via MVD) in two versions: as a standard CD and as a digipak CD edition including additional bonus tracks.
