"Hello, Fronds!," writes Fern Knight. "We are happy to be almost at the mixing phase of our fourth album, Castings. Hear two rough mixes on our MySpace page: www.myspace.com/fernknight.

"We are describing it thusly: '...The new album is an 8-song song cycle exploring several memes of the Tarot that look to the past and the future to try and make sense of daily life. Recorded in a gothic mansion in the Brandywine valley in PA, the band seems to have wholly tapped into the dark vibes of the space. Under songleader Margaret Ayre?s unwavering direction, Fern Knight fuses her tightly arranged and smartly produced pop songs with symphonic art rock, progressive folk and old-school metal licks (horns up!)..."

"Thank you to Geoff Bucknum, Rosali Middleman and the dude bros for gear, assistance and support!"

from their blog: The cover art is an Amazingly Beautiful drawing by Hanna Tuulikki (Nalle, and the Family Elan). The tentative release date for the comp is March 21st, 2009 and will be released on our label Borne Recordings/Acuarela (U.S. distribution through Darla Records). All proceeds are going to be donated to World Food Program (United Nations agency) to help with special and very important relief operations and emergencies in places such as Darfur region of Sudan, Uganda, and the Congo.
