"False History," the new video from U.K.-based experimental/progressive extreme metallers Xerath, can be viewed below. The song comes off the band's debut album, Xerath I, which was released on May 25, 2009 via Candlelight Records. The CD was mixed in France by Brett Caldas-Lima (CYNIC).

An e-card for the album is available at this location.

Xerath will enter Foel Studio (Porcupine Tree, Napalm Death, Electric Wizard, Primordial, Paul Rogers) in Wales at the end of November to begin recording its sophomore album for an early 2011 release. The CD will be mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Aborted, Pestilence, Tyr, Hatesphere).

Xerath recently announced the addition of bassist Chris Clarke (ex-Hollow Earth Theory) to the group's ranks.

A photo of the new lineup can be viewed [above].

Xerath last year parted ways with guitarist Andy Phillips. The group's bassist, Owain Williams, has since taken over guitar duties for the band.

According to a press release, Xerath is "a new, cutting-edge band combining crushing Meshuggah-style riffs with epic orchestral composition. Their sound can be described as taking influence from Strapping Young Lad, Meshuggah and Dimmu Borgir to create a distinctive sound they call 'orchestral groove metal' (or chug-score!)."

The band was formed in 2007 by guitarist Andy Phillips, drummer Michael Pitman and bassist Owain Williams, and was later joined by Richard Thomson on vocals.

Originally started as an experiment to combine film-score scounds with syncopated guitar rhythms, Xerath evolved into a full-fledged gigging band with a clear direction.

[Xerath will be playing at ProgPower Europe on October 2, along with Aspera, Darkwater, Haken, Jon Oliva?s Pain, Klone, Leprous, Love de Vice, Myrath, Oceans Of Sadness, Proghma-C, Sacrum, Serenity. Shadow Gallery, and The Dust Connection. -ed]
