Rockpalast is a world-renowned German television series that began airing in 1974 on the German television station Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). Translated into English as "Rock Palace," the television series still airs today. Over the years countless artists and bands have appeared on the show and now MIG (Made In Germany Music) is pleased to present Michael Schenker Group - Hard Rock Legends Vol. 2, a new CD/DVD featuring footage of Michael Schenker Group's January 24, 1981 concert at the Markthalle in Hamburg, Germany and UFO - Hard Rock Legends Vol. 1, a new CD/DVD featuring footage of UFO's November 29, 1980 concert at Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany.

Michael Schenker has always been an artist who never made false compromises. Even when he was the guitarist in world famous bands such as the Scorpions and UFO, his unique style soon became the trademark sound at the time for each of these bands. By the end of the Seventies, the typical confines of being in a band began to limit Schenker more and more. So he took the next logistical step in his career and left UFO to form his own band, the Michale Schenker Group.

Together with Billy Sheehan (bass), Denny Carmassi (drums) and singer Gary Barden he recorded the self titled MSG debut in 1980, which to this day remains one of the strongest albums Schenker has recorded.

However, for the following tour, the line up had already been changed, and few fans today would not regard this later personnel as in fact the most perfect: Schenker and Barden were joined by Chris Glen (bass), Paul Raymond (keyboards) and last but not least the legendary Cozy Powell, who already had played drums with Rainbow, and later with Whitenake, Black Sabbath, Brian May and Gary Moore, just to name a few. It was Cozy Powell's drumming especially that crafted and stabled the performance of this formation - and this Rockpalast concert remains one of the outstanding performances before his death in 1998.

Due on October 26 via MIG, Michael Schenker Group - Hard Rock Legends Vol. 2 presents the first MSG album almost in its entirety (and almost in the same running order) including the two greatest songs Schenker created with UFO: "Doctor Doctor" and "Rock Bottom."

After more than 20 years, this intense hard rock document finally is available to all fans in perfect quality.

Tracklisting (both CD and DVD):

01 (Intro) (1'35'')

As for the UFO set, from the first notes of "Lettin' Go," you can hear an experienced band celebrating a compact, homogenic, and straight forward performance. During this show they tore through their hits including: "Lights Out," "Too Hot To Handle," "Only You Can Rock Me," "Cherry," as well as a magnificent cover of Elvis Presley's "Mystery Train." Ending the night with a breathtaking encore which included "Rock Bottom" and "Doctor Doctor," this concert remains a stunning document of the power and perfection of one of the greatest hard rock bands that have ever existed.

Since 1969 UFO is one of the world's leading Hardrock bands with an extraordinary history. Having started as a boogie-influenced formation founded by Phil Mogg (vocals), Mick Bolton (guitar), Pete Way (bass) and Andy Parker (drums), they soon turned to psychedelic influenced sounds on their second album Flying. A major stylistic change came in 1973, when Michael Schenker joined the band and UFO then defined their particular hard rock style.

After the departure of Schenker in 1979 Paul Chapman (who already was guitarist for UFO in 1974) joined the band with whom they released the album No Place To Run in 1980. This was produced by none other than the famous Beatles-producer George Martin.

This album marked another chapter in the history of the band. Chapman did not make the mistake of simply imitating Schenker's style, instead the music became rougher and earthier.

With this line up (Pete Way, Phil Mogg, Andy Parker, Paul Chapman and Neil Carter on guitar and keyboards) UFO appeared on November 29th, 1980 at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund for a legendary Rockpalast-Concert.

Tracklisting (both CD and DVD):

09 Too Hot To Handle (4'50'')
