Topic: Album Release News

Thanks to a tip from Jeff Eberwein in a e-Prog post (which wasn't directed a me specifically, by the way, it just was there for me to read), I sent my web browser over to White Willow website, and found this posting:

"White Willow's new album, Terminal Twilight, will be released on October 7th in Norway and on October 11th in the rest of the world. It will also be available digitally from iTunes and Amazon.com and any other digital source you might want to use. US version will be released by The Laser's Edge. The CD comes in a beautiful digipack with cover art by NY artist Rene Lynch.

"Pre-order the album here."

There is a treasure trove of White Willow news at their site. The highlights include their new lineup (pictured left to right above, photo by Dagfinn Hobæk) -- Sylvia Skjellestad, Jacob Holm-Lupo, Ellen Andrea Wang, Ketil Vestrum Einarsen, Lars Fredrik Frøislie and Mattias Olsson -- the tidbit that "British singer Tim Bowness (No-Man) appears as a special guest on the album," along with, in an earlier posting, "two of the incredibly talented musicians in Sweden's Gösta Berlings Saga will be contributing on the new album. Einar Baldursson plays some lovely guitar, while David Lundberg contributes Orchestron and some Fender Rhodes among other things," plus "Stephen Bennett (The Fire Thieves, Henry Fool, Tim Bowness, Hugh Hopper) is also working on contributions to the album," and, unrelated to the new release, but good news nevertheless, Ignis Fatuss is available on vinyl (or it was as of their posting. Here's what they say about it: "Featuring remastered sound and a 13 minute bonus track, this is the ultimate edition of a seminal Scandinavian album. The CD has been out of print for years and is already a collectors' item. Now you can own it as a double album on vinyl (180 g), sumptuously packaged in a gatefold sleeve with artwork by design team Trine&Kim and including a lyrics insert.

"Ignis Fatuus is a mellotron-drenched journey through meadows and forests, featuring a cast of thousands and instruments like sitars, krumhorns, bagpipes and pennywhistles in addition to an arsenal of analogue synths and ethereal female voices. Think early King Crimson meets Dead Can Dance meets The Trees and you're halfway there. The album has been praised by such diverse musicians as Lee Dorrian (Cathedral, Napalm Death), Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth), Greg Weeks (Espers, Marissa Nadler) and Fabio Zuffanti (Höstsonaten, Maschera di Cera)."

Purchase the album here! (cover artwork for the reissue designed by Trine & Kim Design Studio).

[Funny, could have sworn we reviewed Ignis... will have to pull out my CD copy at least to make our site complete... well, complete to date, sorta -ed.]
