Bio: The band was formed in 1997 by Jarek Gajczuk-Zawadzki (guitars), Marcin Gajczuk Zawadzki (drums), Paweł Ostropolski (bass), Marcin Kuras (guitars) and Maciej Koczorowski (vocals). They started by playing covers of bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Metallica and Kiss. Their first success came at the end of 1997 when Chainsaw won a "Talent Show" award at an annual contest for young bands, which took place at "l Jazz 10,5" club in Bydgoszcz. By that time, the band had already started to write their own material? April 1998 saw the first line-up change: Sebastian Ostrowski replaced Marcin Kuras. In December, the band spent 3 days in a recording studio where "Rip Open Your Body," "Frogs," "Don't Look" and "Chainsaw Lover" were recorded. Next few months were spent on gigging in near-by towns. The band also took part in several contests for young musicians. At the same, time they were working on new material.

In late 2000, Chainsaw spent several days in a recording studio "Q" in Piła. The session bore fruit: the first professional album with over 42 minute long material, which was released and distributed by Chainsaw. The material was promoted during live performances. The band managed to support such famous Polish bands as Acid Drinkers, Armia, Ceti and Turbo. In December 2001, they recorded two new songs: "Brain Salad" and "The Sins Beyond Redemption," both for Japanese company Arcoiris Records.

In February 2002, the band played its 50th concert, the last one with the drummer Marcin Gajczuki-Zawadzki, who was enlisted in the Polish Army. He was replaced by Sebastian G?rki in April. Chainsaw celebrated their 5th birthday by releasing a compilation Metal Works 1997-2002. It was available only in 50 copies! In late August, the band organized a birthday?s show at the Savoy Club in Bydgoszcz. They were joined on stage by Hunter, Archeon and Miecz Wikinga. The ex-members of Chainsaw, Marcin Gajczuk-Zawadzki, Sebastian Ostrowski, and Paweł Ostropolski, appeared on stage as special guests! Between May and July they played many shows around Poland. In October, the band entered "Q" Studio again to start working on their first professional material.

The debut album Electric Wizards was released on 18th December and was supported with a video clip for the track "Deserted Land." Shows alongside KAT followed soon after. In late March, the band appeared on MTV Classic during the very popular "Hołdys Guru Limited." The show included an interview with Maxx, "Deserted Land" video and a live performance of "Great Fury (Inside)." In July, Chainsaw took part in a prestigious Polish rock festival in Węgorzewo. They were the only heavy metal band to play at the festival! The band was received very enthusiastically by the audience.

Signing a record contract with German label Shark Records in July 2003 was a milestone for Chainsaw. In March 2004, Metal Mind Productions re-released their debut album. Soon after that, the band played at the famous Metalmania Festival. 2005 was a very fruitful year for the band: in September they signed a contract with Empire Records. In November and December they recorded The Journey Into The Heart Of Darkness in Taklamakan Studio, Opalenica. The album was released in February 2005 but in a very limited edition and for the Polish market only. Their third offering, the album A Sin Act, was released a year later, in November 2006. Since then, they have been constantly touring.
