US 5-piece, Vendetta, was formed back in 1997. This band is not to be confused by the two other acts with the same name. Vendetta is from USA and play melodic lightweight prog metal. Vendetta is an EP and the first release by the band.

Vendetta offers very melodic prog metal or prog metal light if you want. Although they are not as technical and up-tempo as most other prog metal bands, Vendetta take it all back with a fine scent for melody, atmosphere and unique sound. All songs are long, where the shortest track is clocking in at over 5 minutes. The songs are very keyboard based, although the guitars are fairly heavy with some tasty fretwork. The keys are varied and show a slight influence of classical music. The piano is awesome and work out brilliantly in these songs. The good mid- ranged vocals of Jeff Thompson are also worth mentioning, as he sings with a lot of passion and offer some superb memorable vocal-lines. Although Vendetta is not as technical as most other prog metal bands, there are still some cool technical instrumental parts to be found, with some exotic musical influences.

The songwriting and arrangements are topnotch and the only thing I miss is a killer production. This would have sounded HUGE with a fat production. Although the production is not bad, keep in mind this is an independent release with room for improvement. I must say that I'm very impressed by the strong material offered. All songs are great, with good melody-lines and choruses. I found this to be a very unique and enjoyable release. These guys are ready for a deal and I wish them the best of luck on that mission! It's hard to compare these guys to any other bands as they have their own unique sound, but if you like your prog metal melodic, this could be right up your alley. Absolutely worth checking out!
