Tangerine was a group was from Pittsburgh, PA featuring Al Ferraro (lead guitar, vocals), Lynn "Crash" Ferraro (congas, guitar, vocals), Dennis Defelice (bass), and Dennis Kostley (drums).

This is an exceptional album from start to finish. Every song features long instrumental breaks in between vocals. The style of music was typical for the day (early 70s). Psychedelic rock with blues around the fringes is the type of music you will hear on this album. It's similar to Vanilla Fudge, Blue Cheer, Iron Butterfly, and King Crimson if you are looking for similarities with other groups in the progressive rock category. Listening to this music today doesn't put it in the prog rock genre by any means, but for the time it was recorded it was considered to be very advanced and progressive.

"My Main Woman" takes up the entire second side of the album, approximately thirteen minutes and twelve seconds. It's a monster psych-rock opus in same vein of an Iron Butterfly song. This music doesn't really sound like it was recorded thirty years ago. That is largely due to the fine remastering and sound quality that Akarma Records provides in the vinyl format. This was music far ahead of its time. I say that because it sounds like they could have easily developed into a jazz-rock-fusion group like Mahavishnu Orchestra or Return To Forever. The foundation was there to build on. After the groups demise the Ferraro brothers remained active releasing an album as recently as 1997 entitled Run That By Me Again.

Now its time for you to discover one of the long lost treasures of psychedelic rock and add it to your collection.

Originally released in 1971 by Stephen Productions (SPST001); also re-issued in 2001 by Gear Fab (GF131LP)
