This isn't exactly the good ship lollipop but a crackerjack band fills the air. Everything excluding a fretless bass, a piano, the singing, and some of the drums were performed on synthesizers. Mike Visaggio is a modern day Keith Emerson. The equipment has been upgraded to current standards, but it's more or less an homage to that obsolete sector of Progressive Rock. Despite dating itself, it will be appreciated by fans who once loved that music or still do. It's hard not to fawn over the sportiveness of these energetic pieces. Song one, "In The Nazarene Church," is an aerobic workout. Fortunately, "Prelude No. 2 For Piano" offers listeners' ears a minute to catch their breath. While some of the remaining songs like "My Elders' Son" and the title track are laidback, many more wind sprints remain. This includes "Blues Variation," "2001: Also Rocked Zarathustra," and "The Synchronized Life." For the record, the opener, space odyssey and latter, are the coolest in the bunch. Consider rocking out to them on a stationary bike. In the end, Visaggio's callisthenic aesthetics will touch your heart or at the very least; help your ticker quickly reach its target working rate.
