You look at the comics-like cover of the album and the name of the band, listen to the eclectic mix of music, including sonic splinters of Type O Negative/Depeche Mode/dark/prog, the perfect quality of the recordings (and they are self-produced, nonetheless!) and never, I say NEVER in your life could imagine that behind extremes that are Braindance, there are a mere two persons. Yes, to be precise, a boy and a girl, gifted musicians that were perfect strangers to me, at least until today: Sebastian Elliott and Vora Vor. But the surprises aren't finished, not yet! In fact, if you read the booklet carefully, you'll find out that, even if Sebastian is the perfect vocalist for the plumbing atmospheres of the duo, it is the fascinating Vora Vor, the mainstay, around which the music rotates, as this new goddess of the night fills without frills the following roles: guitarist, drum & electronic programming, main writer of the songs, producer, engineer ... anything else? Well, it seems that whiz kid Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails) will receive some stiff competition from a woman in the 'I-can-do-it-all-by-myself' artist of the new millennium contest! OK, but now better leave the witticism and return to the wonderful yet sulphurous opus called Redemption, an album whose only flaw is being a little redundant here and there, but that brilliantly accomplishes the purpose it sets in the vast majority of the record, and that is to capture the attention of the listener with gloomy passages depicted on the pentagram, before finally annihilating him with powerful riffs. And it's completely futile to talk about single songs, as the skills of the American duo strongly surface in everyone of them; so the only thing left to do is to recommend an album that is hard to find at the moment, but that will unleash a new musical world to the lucky ones who'll venture into this dark journey.
