Gary Moore is back in a big way with a rockin' set of songs on a DVD and CD titled Live At Monsters of Rock. Moore's legacy reaches back prior to the glory days of Thin Lizzy. Since the demise of that band he has successfully carved a niche for himself and is widely recognized by his peers as one the elite guitarists in the world in the realm of both rock and blues. On this CD and DVD he proves exactly why this is so.

His nod to the classics such as ?Shapes of Things? and ?Wishing Well? are his personal acknowledgement of where his roots are, and his more recent modern electric blues gets the nod on songs like ?Rectify.? Moore burns with intensity while he plays and sings. He is a very strong performer and that is the main reason he only needs a drummer and bass player to back him. His guitar and voice are so powerful that bare bones accompaniment is the only element necessary to feel the impact of his music.

This CD and DVD are working examples of the weight this man carries in blues-rock circles. He has made his mark and these discs are an audio and visual squaring off of sorts for a career that has been highly underrated and overlooked in comparison to his peers (i.e. Clapton, Page and Beck), particularly here in the U.S. For someone that started as a 16 year old in the band Skid Row in Dublin, Ireland (with Thin Lizzy band mate Phil Lynott) you would think that he would have been world-renowned long ago, for some reason that kind of recognition has not materialized for Moore, he is over due. Man, if this does not do it for him nothing will. This is easily some of the hardest hitting blues-rock you will ever hear and see played by anyone.

The DVD represents the May 21 show at the Hallam FM Arena in Sheffield, England, the CD Moore's May 22 show at the SECC in Glasgow, Scotland.
