This band is from Pittsburgh, PA, and for the most part plays somewhat in the Fates Warning style, minus some complexity. The band definitely strives for progressive music, although I have a bit of a problem using the term "metal" as it's really not that heavy, but the strict use of the guitars and the Fates Warning style puts them in that category for lack of a better place.

The band states that they are a progressive metal band from PA, and their goal is to be creative yet melodic, while never losing the appearance of a basic song structure.

They do achieve this for the most part, and I imagine that in a live setting this music would go over a lot better than it does on disc due to the sound limitations. It's not a demo, but the production does not do the band justice whatsoever. The songs are certainly melodic, but they have this "cold" feeling to them in the same vein that Fates Warning does on some of their discs. The interesting part about the disc is that the vocals sound like they are sung "apart" from the music, which means that the music says one thing while the vocals say another. It's almost disjointed, and I know lots of people like that approach rather than have both in total sync. They need to be heard a lot louder, and I'm sure this would come across much better.

The singer (Jeff Kearney) is pretty good, sounding like a lower toned Chris Roy (Reading Zero). The rest of the instruments are handled by Jason Pirone, who is one of those multi-talented individuals that can do it all. It's great to hear more indy bands coming onto the scene and doing what it takes to be heard, especially American bands.

Overall, it's a nice disc, one that could have potential given better sound. If you're looking for slower, more calculated music than the norm, with some meaningful lyrics, you will find it here in Third Voice. Definitely a band to watch for if they are given the chance.
